As part of the mini interviews series, I would like to welcome to blurpixels today, the lovely Deepika and her delicious blog “theloveofcakes”. I met Deepika on Instagram and after watching her feed, I run onto the nearest bakery shop for a chocolate cake.

Her blog and photographs are full flavors and tastes that I think we all love.

I would like to thank Deepika for this beautiful mini interview and the lovely photos that she shares from her blog.

Hi, I am Deepika and I blog at Theloveofcakes (http://theloveofcakes.com/).

I belong to India, the land of multiple cultures and flavors! I am a registered Dental Surgeon by profession, currently practicing at a Hospital in my city. I have always been passionate about baking and decorating cakes. Baking is my stressbuster! A nicely baked and frosted cake brings me immense happiness. Seeing my joy in the kitchen, my brother Prateek, a web developer, helped me start this blog. He manages the technical part of the blog, while I happily bake, frost and take pictures!

The main idea behind the blog was just to have an online documentation of my recipes. But with time, I started enjoying blogging. I have fun writing it now and wait for responses from my readers.  Only recently have I started making efforts to take good pictures. Because I realize, that food has a lot of visual appeal. Currently, I am using a DSLR(Canon 60D) for my photography. I try and take most of my pictures in natural light. My photography is improving with time and practice. I still need to work on it a lot. I haven’t invested in any other photography equipment as of now, but would love to add on things as I learn more. For editing, I use a free software-Pixlr. I find this very easy to use and adapt to.

Most of my cake and dessert recipes are inspired from my huge Pinterest feed. But my favorite social media platform has to be Instagram. I don’t have a huge following, but there is fair amount of engagement on my posts. That I feel is the most important aspect of blogging. Interaction with your readers is very helpful for the growth of a blog.  One should answer all queries regarding the recipes, show gratitude in return for appreciation and always be available!

I never started this blog to make money from it. So, I haven’t promoted the blog seriously on any social media platform as of now. I don’t use any application to schedule my blog posts either. 5 years from now, things could be different!
