I would like to welcome today on Blurpixels, a new blog from Santorini, OneQuarterGreek. Nicoletta is Italian and by one quarter Greek, from her grandmother`s side.
She is a very sweet and kind person and probably the most courageous blogger I know, since she decided to leave London and move permanently in Santorini, after her vacation time there. She is learning Greek and the all the answers on the Greek section of the interview are her own, not just a translation!!
At her blog, she shares everyday moments from her new life on the island and in Greece, while she discovers it day by day.
I want to thank her so much for the lovely cooperation and the beautiful images she send from her blog and instagram account.
Can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and your blog? Hello there! It's Nicoletta aka One Quarter Greek here from beautiful Santorini. I am ¾ italian and guess what my ¼?! My dream for years has been to live in Santorini and I moved here in February 2017. I love Greece and its tradition. My grandmother was greek but I didn't have the chance to meet her, but I think I have more than ¼ Greek blood in my veins. I have always been a (big) city girl and I am both a photographer and project manager for art and entertainment projects.
What inspired you to start your blog? I wanted to tell my story and the adventure of a city girl on an island. I love Santorini so much! Despite the fact that it's a very popular island, it has beautiful hidden spots and I would love to show that there is more than the sunset (that it's incredible by the way). I would love you to see and love the island with my eyes and with my heart.
How do you shoot and edit your photographs for your blog? I use a Nikon D700 and very often also my Iphone. Some of the pictures on the blog are taken with my mobile. I develop my pictures with Photoshop and with the app VSCO for the mobile ones.
How do you schedule your posts? Well, I just launched my blog and at the moment I would like to schedule a post each week. Very often my posts are stories with texts and pictures and I would love people to meet closer the characters I introduce on the blog.
Can you share your number one personal photography/ blogging tip? Right now I need more tips than what I can give! But I think you need to be truth to your self, enjoy what you are doing and don't be afraid to fail. Fail means change, and that's the beauty of life, you can always change!
What do you do when you are not blogging? I am obsessed by books, fiction is my drug. I love cinema. Lots of time with e-learning and also greek lessons with my teacher. I spend time with my friends here on the island and a lot of skype calls with my family in Italy which I miss a lot! And Ashtanga!
What is your favorite social media platform and how that helps your blogging journey? I'd say Instagram. I think that it's the perfect app for my language which combines writing and pictures. I am also in love with it because with this app I have met beautiful people which are now (or soon to be) friends in real life.
What is your favorite blog post from your blog? My favorite post on my blog right now is my first one 'My ¼ quarter Greek): it's the story of my family, the story of my grandparents. It's fiction getting into real life, which it's something I really believe in!
Where would you like to be in blogging five years from now? I would like my blog to be a place where people come to discover the real life of the most beautiful island of the planet. I would love it to be the first step when they will plan their trip and I would love to make their holiday a dream time, to feel a local for a week, and I am sure that they will never forget it. And they might come back for more!
Enjoy more great pictures from Santorini on Instagram.
