I would like to welcome today on Blurpixels, a beautiful and pure Greek blog that I have loved since its first post.
The Mycountry by the Greeks blog, is a great web page full of Greek icons, colors and that unique energy that you can only meet when you travel around Greece. Is a favorite page of mine, that I love to visit and relax and let my mind to travel into all the fantastic Greek places that I have not visited yet.
That endless trip of the photographers of Mycountry to all the Greek villages and to the Athenian streets is a work that I simply admire. It gives me inspiration, motivation to discover and ideas for future destinations.
I am so happy that the creator of the blog Sonia, agreed to answer a few questions about it and share some of the beautiful pictures of her blog here. I want to thank her and wish to her a great future for her work done on the blog.
Can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and your blog? It all started in the name of journey. I am a fanatic traveler by all means; I like discovering new places and traditions to save images and to create short films in my mind. Of course, all this has to do with the fact that I am a dreamer. As a city girl, I have the need to alternate my pictures far from the city but I wouldn’t abandon Athens, it is my place, my village. “My Country” was an idea that had crossed my mind long before it was implemented and my main purpose was to create an electronic space with strong Greek images. Lively images to reflect the Greek aura and colors.
What inspired you to start your blog? Two years ago, I made the decision to create My Country by the Greeks along with my friends Kiki and Giannis. We all have 2 common features, which are the basic elements for the creation of My Country. We are photography lovers and travelers.
How do you shoot and edit your photographs for your blog? We share the same point of view that it does not matter what camera you have but what you do with it. However, we want the maximum picture quality, our main equipment is dslr and full frame cameras. Our images, when required, are processed in Photoshop.
How do you schedule your posts? We don’t have a schedule, though we should. We would like to have 1-2 posts per week but it is not always possible when this involves traveling.
What inspires you to write your blog posts? Personally speaking, my inspiration comes from the photos. Firstly, I make my selection and then I put them in an order waiting for the words to unfold on the screen.
Can you share your number one personal photography/ blogging tip? I have been a blogger for over 6 years. I have read so many dos & don’ts and blogging tips etc. My personal tip is one, write what you really believe, far from the rules.
What do you do when you are not blogging? I have a full time job, I exercise myself and I make many walks around the centre of Athens.
What is your favorite social media platform and how that helps your blogging journey? I'm a fan of instagram! I personally prefer it because it's like a huge photo album. It is inspirational whether it is about fashion, photography or travel. I think it's more suited to mycountry's profile.
What is your favorite blog post from your blog? I do not distinguish any of the mycountry’s posts, I love all of them!!! I admire our work because we aren’t journalists, we are amateur photographers. But we have a passion and meraki (to do something with your soul, creativity or love).
Where would you like to be in blogging five years from now? Let me think….I would like to take the position of the Conde Nast Traveler, to be worldwide known. No, no I am joking. I really want to be there in the next 5 years because we have fun through this and Greece has countless places to explore. Of course I have a crazy dream, someday My Country by the Greeks to become a book.
