One of the most beautiful places that I have visited in Greece and one of the best outings I have ever done was the one in Limeni, in Mani.
Not this summer, no, this is a special summer, unique to us, that we live it along with an incredible little creature that joined our lives just a while ago. But each summer has it`s own story and so it has the one I am writting about today. It left its own excellent icons in our hearts and I remembered it by scanning my photography files.
I felt wonderful as soon as I saw that unique landscape, taken out from a fairy tale and although it was not our final destination we stayed and came back the next day as well to enjoy it as long as it was possible.
I had never gone to Peloponnese before. Funny I guess but true.
Stone, wood and sea compose a scenery of absolute calmness and unique beauty. That traditionally little village with its houses all built on the Greek sea is a little jewel that I loved at first sight.
Limeni is a really small stone-built next to sea village, around 3,5 hours away from Athens and just 5km away from Aeropolis, our final destination.
It has clrystal emerald waters and a few little coffee shops and taverns around with exquisite mezes to enjoy all day long.
We chose for our breakfast/lunch “The little shop of Thodor” just next to the sea and tasted delicious greek flavors, while enjoyed that amazing view. The fact that we had to leave at some point was not something pleasant of course because we could not get enough of that place.
For our evening walk, we preferred to sit at “The Teloneio” which is located literally on the sea, with great romantic lighting and we enjoyed frozen cocktails and millefeuille. I highly recommend it.
If you are looking for a short trip with lots of relaxation at the sea, delicious Greek cuisine and that unique energy of the Mani scenery, going to Limeni for a few days is an absolute must.
